HSBC Bank asked over 2,000 ex-pats in 48 different countries to rate their new nation of residence on ability to befriend locals, ease in joining community groups, number who learned the language and percentage that bought property.
Germany and Australia followed Canada in the two and three spots respectively, while the United States placed sixth. Defying all stereotypes, France clocked in as the ninth most friendly nation.
