Our trip can best be described as a hop on/ hop off ride. We drive until we see something cool, beautiful, odd, and if we are hungry. This was one of those spots where we just pulled off on the side of the road and walked down to the cliffs. Such a gorgeous day- slight chill in the air, but so sunny.
Honestly, I can’t express how amazing the last five days have been. If you ever get the chance to camp and drive highway 1 up the coast of California- do it. So much to say, but really- I just had the most amazing time. Lots more photos and a crazy 60’s style video we made on our travel site!

The last couple of weeks have been Stressful with a capitol S. I’ll go ahead and add super in front of it, because it was that stressful. Between searching for an apartment, finding one we loved, losing that one because we waited “one more day” to make sure we really loved it and then endlessly scouring LA for another one, I’m ready to go to sleep for weeks. Seriously if I never have to look at craigslist or westside rentals or rent.com or any other awful renting website again, it will be too soon.
The saving grace of this week is that on Saturday morning, Bob and I are picking up our VW Surfari van and taking a road trip up the coast of California and camping in Big Sur. This is a trip that I have wanted to do for as long as I’ve lived in California. I can’t wait to see the waterfalls, endless sunsets, Jade Cove (yep, that exist!), wild animals like condors and bears and ostriches and sea lions, eat clam chowder and drink wine on top of the clouds overlooking the ocean. The trip is already romanticized in my head and I love that.
Bring it on.
As far as my outfit- I fell in love with the long flowy dresses and simple tshirts from so many NYFW collections that I wanted to try it out for myself. I had on booties, but it was just too hot to wear them walking the dogs, so I switched to flips. Imagine it with the booties, if you will. :)

To say that my hair is unruly would be an understatement- a huge one. After a blow out, it is a huge, frizzy mess. Even after using products or a round brush, I still have to go over it with a straighter or curling iron. Basically, if you want me to look half way presentable, please give me plenty of notice! So, a couple of weeks ago, when Misikko contacted me to try out their new HANA 1.5 Flat Iron- I was wondering if it was a sign from the hair gods.
The package arrived quickly and I was giddy as I opened it. Just as my luck would have it, my curling iron recently broke on me too, and I was becoming desperate. (Bob even mentioned that I should buy a hat while we were in Target. If the hat hadn’t been so cute, I might have thought he was hinting at something… )
I played around with the settings, tried curling my hair, straightening it, and actually read the instruction book. I love this thing. After using the flat iron, my hair was sleek , shiny and super soft. There are multiple settings that correspond with your hair type- which is awesome. I’m not sure if my other one had that feature, but I’m pretty sure I just turned it as high as it goes and burned the crap out of my hair. My package also included a styling serum to apply all over my hair to protect it. The smell was absolutely lovely. (Usually they smell like paste or gum, but this had a relaxing green tea smell)
The biggest thing though, is the protective sides. As a girl who often burns the side of her scalp when pressing the iron too close to her head (am I the only one?), I loved this feature. I didn’t get burned once!
If you are in the market for a new Curling Iron or Flat Iron, I’d highly suggest Misikko and HANA products.
(My best flat iron from HANA was provided for me, but my opinions are my own!)
everything at every target in our area is sold out… I wouldn’t mind if these pieces somehow got into my closet… I did find one shirt and a lady in the shoe department tried to rip it out of my hand and gasp that I didn’t give it to her. I bought the shirt even though it’s not my favorite piece… I looked it up on ebay and it’s selling for triple the amount in store. Maybe i’ll make an ebay account now.
On Monday, Bob and I jumped in my car and drove about an hour and a half to a peach farm in the middle of nowhere, California… It was a pretty simple drive, listening to country music and talking about the 5 apartments we saw on Sunday. Trying to decide which, if any, we wanted to live in. While we didn’t solve that problem, we did find the peach farm and a heck of a lot of peaches.
My favorite photo from the day is Bob looking down into our bucket. We were counting how many we had because we are going to make a homemade peach pie and peach salsa- yum! If they turn out delicious, I’ll let you know the recipe!

Ah, summer in LA… it is gloomy and overcast all June and July and then August and September roll in and it’s 100 degrees and sunny all the time.
This is a skirt I picked up at Target the other day for a whooping 7 dollars. Is it not the most adorable color combo you’ve ever seen? I’m in love. Royal blue, Teal, Mustard Yellow, and white. Can you imagine the number outfits you could make with this skirt…. love love love.
