SOULFISHING: a blogette

Ah, Friday… this week has been busy and somehow I got sick. I can’t think of anything worst than having the flu during summer. 

Finally feeling somewhat like myself… we took a long walk to the park with the doggies, got lunch and I finished up several pieces for Discover LA. Hooray for the weekend- cupcake tastings, wine parties, improv shows, cast get-togethers and sleep.  lots and lots of sleep. Hope you have a great one!

While driving to an outdoor mall in Florida, my mom and I stumbled upon this public park that, even though we have lived in the area for many years, we never knew existed. It was kind of the perfect park to take outfit photos because I was oh, so water baby in my fish dress, fish necklace and starfish scarf. Whoa- saying it all together, maybe it was a little too much! 

nah, who am I kidding-it was perfect.

In other news… my freshman roommate from college and all around awesome friend had her baby girl last night! I can’t wait to see momma and baby at a friends wedding this October! Love you, Chrissa!

went to Bob’s UCB show this afternoon… he was fantastic- definitely the funniest one- and then to lunch with Meagan and Mary Claire.  Tonight- theatre in the park, wine, cheese, beach blankets and shakespeare… what an awesome day.

I’ve spent the last week in Florida with my family and I couldn’t have had a better time. It’s always super sad to leave them… and being back in Cali, heading to work and searching endlessly for the perfect apartment is making me that much more homesick. Ah, for the days when you drink icy mixed dresses and start each day with a long walk on the beach…

Something about hot pink and navy make me feel like summer… it could also be the heat we are experiencing at the moment… So excited to be heading home to Florida this weekend- long overdue trip with beach parties, fried shrimp, key lime pie and cheese grits. yum! Bring on the sun!

Well, it happened. I bought a romper. It was calling my name and I didn’t even know it. Innocently I walked into AE with Bob to find him some new flip flops… and before I knew it we walked out of the store with this romper and no flips.  I told you it was calling my name!

I never really saw me as a romper girl, not because I didn’t think they were cute- but because I was worried I bathroom maneuvers. This one is super easy to get in and out of and perfect for hot summer nights. Obviously Bob loved how short it was… duh, he’s a guy.

After a trip to the hair salon, Bob and I went for a walk with the pups. It was a scorcher on Friday, so I put on this super breezy number that kept me cool but still had some swing and style. 

I’ve had this dress ever since I first moved to LA. It reminded me of something Carrie Bradshaw would wear because the back is open and you can always see a bra line, which she always showed. I had no idea that I would love it so much and keep it for so long… but it’s definitely a “hall of famer”. Do you have any dresses like that?

Arriving at the Snowmass Viceroy Hotel near Aspen was quite a shock- in the best way possible. This hotel is easily the nicest place I have ever stayed- our suite was a one bedroom penthouse level with our own kitchen, huge bathroom and washer/dryer. The views from the balcony were absolutely perfect- especially at sunrise- and the bed provided the best nights sleep in my life! 

Dressing up a little for the first night cocktail party, I decided to wear this new dress from fresh produce. The length added just enough fanciness and the color fit into the surroundings perfectly.

Since I fell asleep in the huge bathtub, I added a bunch of bangles and bright scarf to punch up the look without requiring too much additional time. Easy travel dressing to the max!

Last week Bob and I went to Colorado for a press trip for Vagabond3. (Basically the best experience ever! Check out the site for videos of kayaking, water rafting, stand-up paddle boarding, and hot springs action!) Having never been to Colorado before, I was excited but had absolutely no idea what to pack. Our leader told us to pack jeans, comfortable clothes and then listed the planned activities. I brought a couple of dresses and added tops or layers as needed (even though most of the time we were there it was super hot).

So happy with this dress so far- I have probably worn it a ten times since it came in the mail and I couldn’t be happier with how it has held up. Instead of wearing it like a dress (as seen here), I topped it with a light jean shirt and cowboy boots for the Snowmass Rodeo. I totally felt like we were in the old west- so many cowboys and farm smells!

I hope you have a very happy 4th of July- we are planning on hitting up a few bbq’s and just relax. I should be back to regular blogging now that I’m with regular Internet connection.
