Summers in California are crazy- all June it’s gloomy and gray with highs in the low 60’s, then the first day of summer comes around and it’s gorgeous, sunshine all day long with highs in the upper 90’s! Talk about extremes.
Summer dressing for me is an easy two step process- 1. find a sweet and simple dress that can be easily dressed up or down. 2. add accessories depending on activity.
Insert the perfect summer dress- This dress from Fresh Produce is a sturdy white cotton, bouncy and flirty, with just enough attitude to stand on its own and classic enough, thanks to the pintuck details, to be styled a multitude of ways. Perfection!
This summer is also super travel packed- I’m out of town almost every other week flying around the country for events, press trips or quality family time. (I’m not complaining!!) Having a few key pieces that can easily go from Vancouver to LA to Denver to Florida are essential for non-stressful packing situations. Throw it in the bag and you are good to go. Got to love that.

life has been crazy lately- but in the best possible way. the opportunities that are coming at me are amazing. I’m being vague, I know, but things are just happening so fast and are so great and ahhh… I’m just excited to live this life!
after vancouver, I came down with a cold and took a few days off from blogging to sleep and take care of myself. that didn’t last too long because V3 is heading out on our first… very first press trip!!!- holy smokes!!!- on Saturday. We’ll be spending 5 days in beautiful Aspen and Denver livin’ it up with the Tourism Colorado peeps. We met these guys awhile back and it was like love at first beer. (they love their beer!)
today, bob and I took the dogs for a very long walk around the park. it was our first day off together since we’ve returned from vancouver and it was nice to have the afternoon to just be.
we snapped these shots with our iphones and doctored them up with instagram… (i’m slightly obsessed… i know, like years after everyone else… just like with LOST- whatever, I’m a late bloomer!)
hope your hump day was just as peaceful and fantastic as mine.
Since Bob and I were filming our entire trip to Vancouver and blogging about it, we used every second of our days to see as much of Vancouver as possible. Here we are at Top of Vancouver- a look-out over the city- and you can see how awesome our new X-Shot iPhone holder was… we used that thing everywhere! In the last photo, I was pointing out where we were in relationship to where our hotel was… it was only about a 20 or so minute walk, but at 8 in the morning after a night out with travel bloggers, I sure do wish we had been a little more central. (If I were to go back though, this area was pretty awesome and away from the crowds of Downtown.)
This is what I wore to the Kick-Off party-(video here) I really like this dress because it could be dressed way up or super casual. Love when clothes have double duty!

Wow- Vancouver… We just got back from 5 days in this wonderful city to our north. I’m still a little overwhelmed by the conference and how awesome it was to meet all my friends IRL, but overall, we had an amazing time. This was the first day as we were heading to our first tweet-up on Granville Island. (You can watch our video here.)
The weather was interesting… it wasn’t cold but it was overcast and gray most of the time. Bob said if you like Twilight than it would be everything you would want from the movie location. Even though it was cloudy, the city is so vibrant and full of energy. Granville Island is an island in the middle of the city- how freakin’ cool is that- that is home to a huge farmers market, tons of local foods, a theatre and playhouse and several big pubs.
As for the outfit- trench coat was my go-to topper for the weekend, paired with light pants and an easy striped tank and scarf and I was ready to go. I felt put together and easy. Perfect for meeting people for the first time.
have you been to vancouver?!

This weekend Bob and I are driving to Santa Monica to search out a new apartment… and I could not be happier! We are searching for the perfect place near the beach with a little yard or balcony. I’m so looking forward to the morning beach runs and late afternoon walks with our dogs on the boardwalk. I can’t wait to bike ride to my favorite Italian place and watch the sun set over the ocean more than just a few times every couple months.
We haven’t found a place yet - we’ll be going out for the first time on Saturday- but I can already tell you I have an inspiration folder that is about 5 folders deep. I would love (love love) hardwood floors, cozy arched ceilings (apparently that is pretty common in older apartments on the westside), lots of storage (this girl has some clothes…), and be less than 1 mile to the beach. (I know… I’m asking for a lot here) But I’m pretty hopeful- I’m ready to find something, someplace new and make it our home.
I’m leaning towards beachy colors- calm, relaxing, easy-going colors (which is kind of different from what we have now). I want to stick with sandy colors for the couch (we already have one that color), dark browns for some of the furniture and then pops of teal and navy & white stripes. Very classic, very Coastal Living Magazine.
I’ll let you know how this weekends search goes—- hopefully I’ll be back with pictures and our dream place.
On Saturday night Bob and I went out to an early dinner and to see a play. The play was in Culver City so I was able to finally introduce Bob to Father’s Office. (I can’t believe that was Bob’s first time going there… wow!) The burgers are so good and the beer is really tasty too but the sweet potato fries take the cake. They are the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever tasted. If you are ever in L.A. I would highly recommend Father’s Office- sit outside, grab a beer and split the sweet potato fries. Perfect date night!
