I never would have described myself as a writer before. Never. I was the do-er, the actor, the drama-maker. I would have read out loud what you wrote, but actually do the writing and feel proud of it- nah, not really me. But now, with writing for Vagabond3, I’m excited to tell the world about my travel experiences, my hopes and fears while wandering around an unknown city. and I’m getting pretty good. I have a voice and people like it. This is new for me, and I like it.
(Lonely Planet picks blog posts that they like from a sea of travel blogs and puts them under “blogs we like”. All of my posts have been selected. It’s pretty awesome.)
I’ve been a work-out queen the last couple of days and it’s really starting to pay off. I am running further, burning more calories and my arms are looking more toned. This is GREAT! I’ve also decided that I’m no longer going to take the elevator at my apartment and just take the stairs for further preparations for climbing the Great Wall of China! I am stoked!
You know what movie I really loved growing up?! Empire Records. I really like that movie. Oh, Rex…
Today was a pretty good day. Woke up (always good!), worked out (i’m trying to really work out hard before my RTW trip), ate tacos (delicious!), took the dogs to the vet (Romeo has a cold :( ) and took a walk around the neighborhood with my boyfriend. Nothing too fancy, but good nonetheless.
After a few days off from work, I’m back at it. Both with real work (you know, I one where I get paid…) and with Vagabond3. Today we spent the afternoon researching different excursions and potential sponsorship opportunities. It was eye opening, to say the least.
I did a lot of work on the computer today so it was so nice getting tacos, sitting outside and then heading to the gym. I’ve been running more and working out more and I just feel great.
Today I wore a bunch of different bracelets, one I got as a birthday gift from my college roommate, one I got in a box set of The Office (support the rabid!), and a few others that I collected from thrift stores. I think it’s pretty cool!
Tonight we went to the MoFilms Awards at the L.A. Film School and had the best time! First of all, great time just getting ready and walking to the Ceremony. Bob was so excited and so was I… We got to eat the most delicious food and drink the best drinks and hang out with film makers and it was the best time ever.
I didn’t know what to wear- in fact, I knew exactly what to wear. A black tunic with a little detail and black leggings and sky high heels. Problem is- I don’t want to look like every other person… and thankfully, I wore this cute little number and looked like no one else there and met tons of people in a sea of all black. I felt pretty great to be on the arm of my handsome award winning Bob.
Unfortunately we only brought our iphones, so these pictures are a result of that… We met some really great people, who I can’t wait to hang out with.
Whenever I wear this blue striped shirt with ANYTHING else, my boyfriend says i look like a pirate. Well then, I must love pirates, because for some reason I love pairing this shirt with the most outrageous colors and patterns. These pants are absolutely perfection rolled up and worn with heels. Later in the night I threw on a cardigan because L.A. is freaking freezing right now. Yeah, it’s almost May- May- and it’s cold. I don’t get it either.
Vagabond3 met today to talk about our itinerary and nail down dates. The meeting went great and we are ready to send off dates and start booking additional flights and excursions. It’s so exciting (and very nerve-racking) watching all the pieces come together. I can’t believe that I’ll be traveling around the world in a little over one month!! Crazy!
Currently I’m on the computer and Bob’s playing XBOX, screaming “run, run, run and oh, shit!”! It’s pretty funny. Tomorrow is supposed to be warm (79 degrees, holla!) so I’m hoping to go to the gym and then lay out by Cliff’s pool. Hopefully, fingers doubled crossed, that happens!
This scarf was on sale at Target for only 1.25. yep, that’s right- basically the cost of a pack of gum. So, I skipped the gum and bought the scarf!
If you are anything like me, then I know you’ve been loving all the fabric flowers added to almost anything and everything! I love this one above (via anthropologie) and think it would be the easiest thing to DIY. Lucky enough for me (and now, for you) is that Martha Stewart already thought of us and has easy to follow steps on how to make fabric flowers out of any fabric. She evens has several different patterns to follow for different types of flowers! I can’t wait to make my own!
For lunch today we went to Porto’s Bakery and had cuban sandwiches and talked over the RTW trip.
It was pretty cold and rainy today (off and on rain), so jeans and a jacket were a must. This shirt has been in my “to-alter” pile- but I pulled it out and with a gold skinny belt pulled it all in. I love the colors of this tank and the material looks and feels so luxe. It has this gold shimmer to it and I just love blues and pinks together- so sweet.
Last night we went to the L.A. Travel Tweet-Up and had so much fun. It was great meeting fellow travelers and actually talking In Real Life! A lot of them had a ton of advice on traveling to places that are on our list of stops and that was really exciting. You read so much about all the places but to hear someone’s first hand experience is nice and reassuring about decisions I had already made about our trip.
It was pretty cool so mom and I both wore jackets. We also both wore flips, so I’m not exactly sure what we were thinking!! Our feet were frozen!
another great day with my mom. yay! even though it rained and there were clouds in the sky, we had a great time. tacos, doggie walks, girl movies and cupcakes.
This is my new trench coat that we bought for my RTW trip. Isn’t it perfect?! Yes, it is. It is warm and perfectly lined in a cool light pink color and fits just like it should. You have no idea how hard it is to find a good trench coat… everywhere has them, but most of them aren’t cute and the ones that are cute, are not waterproof and that just makes no sense.
Really loving todays outfit- it was kind of cold outside today and a light long sleeve tee underneath the dress with the trench on top was the perfect combo. Also, check out my teal toes! holla!
Bolt is in love with my mom. even though he looks a little scared here, he was loving every single second she was holding him.
yea, he loves me…
see ya! hope you had a great tuesday!
outfit details: trench- Laundry, dress- free people, shoes- nine west, necklace- lucky brand, sunnies- marc jacobs.
Yay- another day with my mom in town is another one of the best days of my life. I am so happy she is here. Today we went on a little hike (well, there wasn’t anything little about it! we were pooped!), ate tacos, watched The Blind Side and hung out.
I picked up this little high waisted skirt yesterday with my mom. I’m totally in love with it. the colors are so bright and such a fun shape.
just hanging out by trash cans… you know, that’s how i do it.
here are some pictures of this mornings hike. see, i wasn’t kidding!
there’s romeo pulling mom up the mountain!
best buddies… romeo was wiped out. look at that little tongue- are you kidding me?! so cute!
outfit details: skirt- french connection, shirt and shoes- gap, jean jacket- calvin klein, jewelry- lucky brand.
This weekend has been amazing. Today we shot a spec commercial for New Castle and then had a brunch at 4 N’ 20, which I can’t believe we just now discovered and went to. It was delicious!!
and my mom is in town!!
then we went and got our toes done with Mom, Meagan, Meagan’s Mom, and Amber. It was the best girls day out ever!
Afterwards, mom, Amber, Bob and I went to P. F. Changs for their $3-#6pm deal, where from 3-6pm they have most items 3-6 dollars. It was awesome. We all got PBR’s (for 2 bucks) and Amber and Bob got sake.
Bob was in heaven. After the movie we went to see Kick Ass. It was um… different than I thought. Very violent. Funny, but violent and really serious at times.
This trip is about me completing something more ambitious than I ever thought I would undertake, and completing it. Come hell or high water, pbj’s or tuna fish, long flights or couch surfing, I will travel the world and return home.
I hope there are bumps in the road, problems that cannot be easily resolved, changes in plans due to the limits of my pocketbook because I want to know that when I finish, I did everything I could. I spend every day of my life pursuing difficult goals because they’re my dreams, and I have decided that this is something very special that I must undertake. I don’t know how yet, but me and my credit score are going to survive this. As long as I have my camera, keys to my apartment, and my passport I am fine. This is my chance to do something enormous – I’m going to see the world. At 27, this is my One Grand Thing.
My Boyfriend talking about our Around the World Trip. Reading this gives me goosebumps!
Rainy days bring about the most lush, wild flowers and weeds… this house is literally overgrown with them! It’s kind of amazing and beautiful.
I brought out my sailor skirt again today- i love the different buttons, mix of gold and silver and all around tailored feel of the skirt. i wore a seashell necklace underneath the starfish scarf because I was feeling a little extra beachy today… even though the weather didn’t get above 65 degrees. It was one of those cold, spring days where even though it’s raining, the sun is still shining and rainbows are everywhere!
I was more than happy to throw on some tights and play with all the blues of this outfit.
walking around our neighborhood with the dogs might just be the happiest moments of my days. it’s just us- no phones, no distractions, just peace and love. I hope your Monday was just as nice!
outfit details: skirt- Anthropologie, Sweater and tights- gap, shoes- BCBGeneration, scarf and necklace- AE, Headband- Anthropologie
This lookbook is to die for! I’m loving all the simple pieces that when paired together look so great! Also, this can be a style inspiration for all boys out there- especially my boyfriend. This would look killer on you. (that model even kind of looks like you- shaggy hair and all!) I could see us walking around the gardens in Tokyo in this outfit!
Happy Easter! This Easter Sunday was absolutely delightful with an easy picnic in the park- break and bake cookie/ icing sandwiches and the happiest dogs on the planet! Luckily, I was with some pretty special friends to help celebrate the day!
What a wonderful surprise! Saturday night we joined Glenn and Zane for a lovely little date night with *free* movie tickets and beers! I really love how this shot is in perfect focus on some things and blurred on other parts. I like the movement!
This Spring I’m really going to try and reinvent the way I wear the clothes I already have. Yes, I would love to have tons of money and buy all new- but with the world trip on the horizon, that just isn’t possible. Plus, I really like the way these looks are styled and hopefully I can reimagine them into my wardrobe! IF I were going to buy though, these would be my picks!
Tonight I made Lasagna Rolls. Here’s how you can too:
What you will need:
Package of Lasagna Noodles, Meat of your choice (I choose beef), Spinach, 1 Package of Italian Cheeses, 1 Jar of Garden Blend Spaghetti Sauce, mushrooms
Start by putting noodles in boiling water for about 10 minutes or until they are soft. They lay them out side by side on a piece of waxed paper. (So they don’t stick to anything) While they are cooling, cook meat and drain. Next, fill noodles with spinach, mushrooms, meat and top with cheese. After the cheese you’ll want to put a little sauce over each noodle. (see below)
Since I’m completely obsessed with my blue and white striped shirt- here is another, much calmer, outfit with it. I basically can’t take this shirt off- I love it that much. It is so soft and I love the scope neck. I love when you put together an outfit and it just seems so effortless (b/c it was) and you walk out the door grabbing shoes and a hat- just because they are there- and it all goes together so perfectly. That was my afternoon.
