Navy Pirate vs. Food Trucks!

image

Bob said I looked like a fashionable pirate today.  We were headed to the Americana Food Truck Festival, so I laughed saying maybe I could fight my way into get free food.

image

Little did we realize that the rest of the world would also be at the Americana Food Truck Festival…. literally every other person in L.A. was here. and being a pirate didn’t help!

image

Basically I had been wanting a blue and white striped shirt for hm, I don’t know… forever- and I had seen several that I “liked” but wasn’t in love with.  and I know what you are thinking, “a striped shirt is a striped shirt… is a striped shirt”  but it’s not!  Some of the stripes are too small, too big, weird arms, a strange off-blue color.  anyway, the other day I was wondering around the mall, because Bob told me he was going to go to Radio Shack and I hate that place- and I stumbled across this little number.  First of all, it was on sale (of course) and it was perfect.  I held it, I admired it and then I walked out of the store.  This is the thing, when you are planning an around the world trip- you really have to think about each purchase.  And I haven’t bought anything for myself in months!  It was almost weird thinking about buying this shirt (even though it was so cheap).  I left it there, went home, slept on it and after I went to the gym the next day, I walked over to AE and handed over the cash.  I felt so happy afterwards- and immediately came home and styled about fifteen outfits!

image

This was one of the bolder options- but knowing me it might end up being calm!

image

I actually saw another girl wearing this exact same skirt- which i thought was weird because it’s not your average skirt!  I even said to her- We are wearing the same skirt!  She looked at me kind of oddly, but I smiled.  Anyway- that is the story of this outfit.

Tonight was kind of a bust because the Americana was just so crowded.  It wasn’t really enjoyable to be there because of all the people and the lines to each truck was incredible- like at least 50 people per truck!  Oh well, we will have to go to each truck another time.  It wasn’t like we were going to be able to eat all that food anyway!

Webisodes, gym and dog parks

Today Bob and I filmed our third webisode for Vagabond3.  It went really smooth and we were both way more relaxed and having a lot of fun- so I think this one will be the best yet!

image

and after filming and watching some of the footage- we immediately went to the gym because fatty mc fatty me looked fat. The frosting cookie sandwiches I made didn’t help!! I felt a lot better once we worked out and took the dogs for a long walk to the park.  It’s been pretty hot here lately and we’ve been enjoying it (Thursday welcomes rain and colder temps-56!).

image

I love these two shirts even though they are completely different patterns and style- the colors make them go together perfectly.  (The top one is small flowers and the bottom tank is fish swimming)

image

even though this is totally blurry of Bolt running after a squirrel, it is awesome. you can really see his momentum and height!

image

This is the church next to the park.  I really love how the sun is peaking through the trees and shadows are all over the brick.

and this is us. love.

Free Tacos...

image

Bob and I were just going to stay home, make a nice quiet lunch and enjoy spending some quality time at home.  But then we realized a new Chipotle was opening in Studio City and all previous plans went out the window.  Chipotle and the chance to win free tacos for a year! are you kidding me?! We threw on clothes and were out the door.

I just can't say no...

image

to adding more and more accessories and colors.  At least I stuck with just pink, yellow and gray here.  I could have added more- try me!  Today was lovely- mainly because Bob and I went to the gym and had a great workout, at lunch at Taco Bell (which, haters gonna hate- I love that place.) and then took the most delightful walk with my dogs.  Love Love Love.

image

Sure, maybe I should have not added the tights- or gone with a more neutral shoe- but honestly, what is the fun in that!  I’m dressing up!  I having fun!  I didn’t have anywhere important to be today, so what not wear only things that you absolutely love and wear them all together!

image

I love the swing that this skirt has.  I basically just spun around while Bob took lots and lots of pictures of me- people were starring.  oh well- it’s better than when I’m taking the pictures of myself on a timer and laughing out loud because people have no idea what I am doing.  Daily Style Blogging is very serious!

yep, spinning some more!

one of those days...

image

Today was just one of those days… the ones where you wake up still tired, can’t seemed to get anything together on time, argue over nothing, forgot your keys after you are already fifteen minutes down the freeway and to top it all off- you are low on gas and will, without a doubt, have to stop and fill up!

I love my mom!

image

This dress was my mom’s when she was my age!  I loosely hemmed about seven inches (not cutting any fabric- i want to save it like it was when she had it).  I’m absolutely in love with this outfit. (and my mom- I love her!)

image

I added the belt and necklace because they just seemed to go perfect with the colors and the combo of all of it just seemed perfect to me.  The cardigan was added because it was a tad bit chilly tonight.

image

ahh- I am in love!

Not your typical outfit post...

image

What a great day!  We went to Santa Monica today and stopped by Diddy Riese in Westwood- only the most perfect ice cream cookie sandwich for only 1.50!  I choose White Chocolate & Nut, Chocolate Chip Cookie and cookie dough ice cream… needless to say- I couldn’t finish the whole thing!  But it was so delicious!

image

I think this totally made Glenn’s Day- and since we were kind-of, sort-of celebrating his birthday (i only say that because he’s bday was last month!).

image

We had dinner at C&O- and it was so delicious!  I love this place and I haven’t been in so long that it was just perfect today.  Since it was a Monday, there was no one there- which is unheard of.  Usually this place is so packed, and since it wasn’t, it felt like everyone was waiting on us.  We got a ton of garlic knots (the best in the city) and our food came out in no time.  It was a great night.

This is the only shot I got of my outfit and it is a little blurry, but does it’s job.  I got this dress last summer on a trip to San Diego with my family and absolutely love it.  It’s so easy to throw one and lately I’ve been obsessed with wearing dresses and throwing a different print scarf on top.

Meagan had a 2nd Birthday Party for everyone that couldn’t make her first bday party.  Well, that’s not entirely true.  Everyone could make her first bday party except for me and Bob who had to work.  So, YAY!, we got to celebrate with Meagan for her BDay.

Everyone did Irish Car Bombs and they raced each other to finish!  Joe did not win.

Another day in the park...

image

Today was glorious! (I actually can’t believe i just typed that- but that is obviously how I feel, so I won’t delete it.)  It was just really nice, getting up and going for a run and then walking to the park with Bob and the dogs.

Dog walks, jean skirts and clogs

image

Lately Bob and I have been taking the dogs up the street to our neighborhood park.  The weather has been so nice and the sun in the afternoon is perfect with a slight wind to cool everything down.  Late afternoon walks are the perfect way to de-stress and actually talk about what’s going on with our lives.

image

Bolt does this thing where he doesn’t want to run and then all of a sudden he’ll just take off and run circles around you.  It’s kind of the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

image

I bought these clogs right when I moved to L.A. and usually wear them with jeans and in the fall.  But, seeing as how everyone is wearing them lately, I pulled them out from the closet and gave it a go.  Some people are even wearing them with tights … which I’m not sure how I feel about that… But maybe I’ll give it a whirl if the wear cools down.

image

the trees were lining the path were in full bloom and absolutely beautiful!

image

Bob and I went for a run today- it felt so great!  Seriously, this was like the first day that we’ve spent just hanging out in the longest time.  We didn’t stress out about Vagabond3, we didn’t think about work- it was so nice.  We actually talked about the trip in the most positive ways- thinking about sponsorships, which places we don’t want to miss and how absolutely lucky we are to have this opportunity!  I really can’t say that enough.

As for the outfit- I just wanted something cool and easy and reached for my shorts, but this skirt was what landed in my hands.  I threw on the white tee, slipped into the clogs and tossed on this scarf that was on the back of a chair.  And there you have it, my easiest getting ready event of the year!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

image

Today was busy!  Bob and I spent a long time last night working on the webisode for Vagabond3 and writing the finishing touches.  So we slept in quite a bit.  Once we woke up, we got ready to film our second webisode now knowing what we needed to do differently to make it better.  I think it went really well.

Sunny daylight

image

Spending the day with Bob meant driving down to Santa Monica and waiting.  Not like I minded, because I spent the day walking around the beach and 3rd street with the sun shining and a light cool breeze.  I love when the sun is out and it seems like everyone around you is so happy.

image

While I was walking around, I decided to take my daily outfit photos and while I was taking them of myself, 11 different people came and asked me if I wanted them to take the photos of me.  It was nice- but I politely declined.

image

This is one of my favorite buildings right near the boardwalk.  The colors are amazing.

oh, Alice...

image

I wanted Alice in Wonderland to be magical and fun and exciting and all the glory that is Alice and that is Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.  It was none of those things.

image

It was quite possibility the most boring movie I have ever seen.  And I went into expecting the worst, I really did.  No one I know has liked it, but they just kept saying “it was bad”… and not too specific.  Well, I can be very specific.  It was boring.  There was no plot.  Alice had nothing she had to overcome.  The Mad Hatter was neither fun or mad- just silly and Johnny Depp seemed to be pulling from either Jack Sparrow or Willy Wonka in each scene he was in.  It was like he couldn’t make up his mind.  The two castle and worlds they create have already been created- at some points it seemed like a bad, sad Narnia world.  The costumes and make-up choices were interesting, but nothing was used with it and nothing grew from it, so it seemed like they developed with no previous thought and absolutely no imagination.  Worst part- I wanted the movie to be good.  I wanted everyone to be wrong- but they weren’t.  I’m actually surprised that this movie was screened by executives at Disney and they said, “oh, yes, that is great!”  I am more thinking that they saw how awful it was, said “oh, damn, everything Johnny Depp and Tim Burton do isn’t magical- but since they are attached no one will care and everyone will go see it anyway.”  Unfortunately for us, we did go see it, and it is making tons of money.  That means, they will allow another uninteresting story to be green lit and produced!  Vicious cycle folks!

image

Anyway, enough of a rant, on to the outfit.  I got this dress in NYC from H&M and it was only 10 bucks.  I reminded me of a dance costume and I was immediately drawn to it.  I think it has a magical feel to it and is way I wore it to the movie tonight.  I am really loving pink and black together lately and played that up.  I love the outfit and in a sea of jeans and hoodies, felt pretty special too.

something out of nothing...

image

Getting ready for tonight was a challenge.  I wanted to look hot for my date with Bob but also wanted to be warm and stylish.  At first I put on about four different dresses, but ultimately decided on jeans and boots.  (Boots because my feet were cold.)  We had a full night planned involving movies, dinner, a trip to the gap (get new jeans) and dessert.  yay!

image

We yelped pizza places because we wanted to try somewhere new and decided on Rocky’s.  It got really high reviews and was nearby- which was perfect.  However, as we were driving by we realized it was a take out place- which was not stated anywhere on yelp!  Really annoyed—  We changed our plans, picked up pizza, two bottles of wine and dessert.  We came home and watched some old law and orders and called it a night.

image

It was really nice just relaxing and hanging out at home.  we haven’t watched a law and order together in a long time, and since that is one of our favorite past times, was a perfect way to settle in for the night.

image

Oh, and big news- one of my articles was picked up and bought!  Woo hoo!  My 456 word article should be posted soon, so I’ll let you know when it does!!!
